Christmas Card

I thought that this would be a better way to get information to those who want to see if plus it will help the environment!!!

It has been a crazy year this past year!!! Lots of firsts for Addison and lots of firsts for us too!!!

Addison is a very rambunctious 15 month old who loves Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and anything Sesame Street. She can say "nana", "rara", "dada", and "hank". Still no mama yet but I think that she is just doing that to make me mad!!!! She loves Hank and Daisy and her favorite thing to do now is throw food on the floor so Hank will eat it! She just started walking on her own and is getting much better at it. She is finally starting to walk to toys instead of crawl to them. We just turned her around in her car seat and it is amazing how different the world looks when you face forward instead of back in the car. =]

I am still teaching students with autism at Madison in Davenport. I like to spend my time (what little I have) reading, blogging, and hanging out with family. I just started the Twilight series and am looking forward to a book by Nora Roberts that should be coming out soon!

Ryan is still an assistant mangager at Hy-Vee in Bettendorf. He works odd hours but loves to spend time with his family, play video games, and anything that has to do with sports. Go HAWKS!

Hank and Daisy are just as spoiled as ever and are adjusting to having Addison in the house. They are both very tolerant of her. Addison loves to pull tails and ears. When they get tired of it, they go away and hide!!!!

Thanksgiving weekend

wow, what a whirlwind this weekend has been. It was a great weekend full of family and fun!!!! It started with Mark and Grete coming in on Wednesday night. Thursday started with brunch in the morning at Grandma's house, games and then dinner at the Tiemeier's. Friday was more of the same. We had dinner at the club and then opened Christmas gifts. Addison got an Abby Cadabby doll from the Hatz family and a turtle leap frog toy, a book, and bath toys from Grete and Mark. On Saturday we played more games, had more to eat, and all around a lot of fun. Pretty much all weekend was eating, drinking, fun and games. It was all a lot of fun and it was great to see Mark and Grete!
Carter opening his gift from us. He was not sure what to think of it to begin with but I think he likes it now.
Addison playing with Carter's Christmas gift from Mark and Grete. They did a really good job sharing it! Not really, that is Addison pulling on Carter's ear in the first photo.
Addison with her Abby Cadabby doll. I have never seen her so happy!! She loves that doll.
All in all, it was a great weekend. Now we need to rest and work off all the turkey and desserts that we ate all weekend!!!

Ryan let the cat out of the bag!!

Ryan was so excited about what he got me for Christmas that he kept laying down hints until he accidentily said it last night during dinner. He got me a new computer, a laptop. It is an HP and it is really awesome. I am so excited about it. Hopefully, it will help me update my blog more often. =] Addison got her glasses on Tuesday. She is not very good about wearing them. It is definately going to be a process. If anyone has any helpful hints, I am open to anything. Pictures of her in her glasses in another post. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and safe Thanksgiving.

Eye doc

Last Thursday we had to take Addison to the eye doctor (because she was premature, they wanted to check up on her eyes). My little lady was a good girl at the doctor when they dialated her eyes and even went into the kids room and shared very well with a little boy about her age. We found out that Addison has a lazy eye and she is far-sighted so that means glasses!!! How on earth am I going to keep glasses on her face. She immediately rips them off my face so she will for sure be taking hers off. We go back on the 19th of November to confirm her perscription and get her glasses. I was upset about it at the time but there is not a whole lot I can do plus she will look cute in glasses. I guess if this is the worst thing that has happened from her prematurity, I will take it!!! =]

Our trip to the ER

Tonight turned out to be a very interesting one. I was at Hy-Vee having dinner with Ryan on his break when I get a phone call from my mom telling me to go and ask the pharmacist a question. I immediately think something is wrong with Addison until my mom says, "we need to know if there is a way to make Hank throw up." Hank followed my mom to the basement while she was doing laundry and found some rotten raw chicken breasts on the floor and decided to eat them. My mom got something out of their chest deep freeze the other day and had to move the chicken breasts and forgot to put them back in. Anyway, back to the pharmacist. She told me to give him a tablespoon on Hydrogen Peroxide and if that didn't work in 15 minutes to try again. We did that and it didn't work so we headed down to the emergency care center for animals. We find out there that it is 1ml to every pound. Well, Hank is 70 pounds, no wonder it didn't work. So Hank was given drugs to induce vomitting (Lovely, I know). Lowe and behold, he vomits. He vomits up 7 whole chicken breasts. Whole, he never chewed those gross rotten chicken breasts! The vet comes out to tell us this discusting, smelly story and to also let us know that they want to keep Hank for an hour for observation because he was staggering, his heart was racing, and he was acting funny. What a way to spend a Friday night!!!!

These Boots were made for Walkin'

Miss Addison has started walking with some assistance from her lion friend. Today she walked from our driveway to the neighbors driveway with only a little help from dad to get her over the bumps. Here is some video of her walking and just being silly!!!

Update

A couple of busy weekends have gone by and I haven't had a chance to blog. We celebrated Addison's birthday Labor Day weekend with my family (as well as many other family birthdays that weekend) and then last weekend up at Ryan's folks. Addison had a ball. She wasn't sure what to do with the cake the first time but the second time around, she really went for it!!! It was a great couple of weekends and I still cannot believe my little peanut is 1!!!!!

Today's the day!!! Happy 1st Birthday Addison!!!!

Her favorite thing to do with the paper this time was throw it on the floor. Here is a progression of what this photo session looked like. She is in the chair that her Grandma and Grandpa Meyer bought her for her birthday.

Yeah, I am one today!!!!!!
The year has flown by and I cannot believe that my baby is one. It is hard to believe that this time last year I was about to embark on the most amazing journey of my life, motherhood. I could not have asked for a more amazing child for my first. Here are some things that she loves to do.
  • Her favorite babbles are "da-da-da" even when I ask her to do "ma-ma-ma". She can do that I have heard her but she just likes to tease mom.
  • She loves to clap and wave at people. She is quite the little flirt.
  • She loves remotes, cell phones, and anything that big people have that she knows she is not supposed to have.
  • She still loves to cuddle when she is tired. ( I love that!!!)
  • She loves to be loud. (Thanks Grandma Judy) j/k
  • She loves Yogurt melts and Puffs.
  • She is great at turning the pages of books. She can be hard on them if they aren"t board books.
  • She loves hanging out at Grandma's during the day with her cousin Carter, even though she is still a little rough and likes to take his toys from him. (Look out Addison, he is probably going to be bigger than you!!!)

School and other things

It has been awhile since I updated last. School has started for me so that means Addison spends time at Grandma's when her papa is working or more time with her papa when he is working nights or off. School is going well but I miss spending time with my peanut. She is starting to wave at people when she sees them or when they leave. Her birthday is coming up and I still cannot believe that she is almost one. She has already gotten one gift from her Grandma and Grandpa Meyer that she loves. It is a little chair that matches her room and her are some pics of her and her new chair. Also her is a preview of Addison in her Halloween costume.
Okay, not lovin the chair in the 1st photo but that is because Mommy made her mad. She did not want her picture taken!!

11 months today!!

I cannot believe that my little miracle is 11 months old today and that one month from now we will be celebrating her first birthday! How time flies!!! It seems like yesterday I was spending all my time in the NICU and wishing for the day that we would get out of there and finally get to come home. Addison is doing very well and is doing all of the things that a 9 month old would be doing and even some things that an 11th month of should be doing and that is exactly where they want her. She will probably catch up by 2 or so. I am afraid that she is always going to be a little peanut but thats okay. My biggest worry is going to find shoes that would be good for walking feet because her feet are still so tiny!!! Here are some pictures of her.
